Timing

Sometimes all you need is the right timing and a bit of luck.

I used to work at a tech brand called OPPO.

Was some of the best times of my life in all honesty.

But that's not what this post is about.

It's about timing.

They launched a new phone yesterday called the OPPO Find X8 Ultra.

But guess when we launched the stunning phone below on the left?

- 2020

- 2022

- 2024??

None of the above.

This phone - the OPPO Find X - was launched in 2018...7 years ago!

Some things in life are just a matter of timing.

Today this phone would not look out of place, in fact, it would be at the forefront of what a smartphone should be (at least design wise).

But back then, it was largely underwhelming in terms of market response and sales.

People were way more familiar with the 'home' button and tons of cameras front and back.

This phone was ahead of it's time.

That same principle can be applied to a new hire, startup idea, or market entry.

Timing is about luck. But it's also about research, knowing what and when people want it.
