Doing Interviews Well

Everyone from startup founders to big-shot CEOs should watch an interview with Gary Vee.

He nails it time and time again on camera, no wonder he's so in demand on air.

This is how you do TV interviews.

1) Body language is top. Remember, it's TV after all! Gary Vee is like a master of looking excited, the worst you can be is tight, stiff etc.

2) Clear messaging. In this interview Gary nails the topic from the start (in this case, social is undervalued). Everyone is clear why we're here!

3) Uses anecdotes and stories, not buzzwords. No-one wants to hear about acronym XYZ or some theory. Tell stories that are relevant and entertaining.

4) Refuses to adopt the hosts's narrative. Think about the number of interviews you remember; yup, they're all pretty controversial. Agreeing with everything said is not the point.

5) Finally, unscripted/raw is way more compelling. Most CEO's are tightly following their company's script. Result? boring ass interviews. Instead, try being raw!

Go watch a Gary V TV or podcast and you'll get it. There’s tons.
