Another year, another Apple event. Tim Cook chose X/FKA Twitter to announcement the next product launch, likely a upgraded iPhone SE.
Here’s the RSVP:
Get ready to meet the newest member of the family.

Immediately I didn’t think about the phone, I thought about Apple’s past design. Remember with Jony Ive at the helm, Apple pursued so called ‘Skeuomorphic’ design aka things that look like real objects.
Jobs was a Skeuomorphic zealout by all accounts. This design is most used in user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) designs to add real-world design cues to virtual objects to make them easier to understand.
I feel in many ways, consumer tech has become cold. Everyone designs flat with neutral or no color at all. Logos have become bland
Case in point:

I sort of yearn, either through nostalgia or plain dislike, of consumer tech from the 90’s/00’s.
When we got really amazing, distinctive design.
What design do you miss?
