Running a Podcast: Lessons Learned

We’re almost at 20 episodes of the HYPEWORKS Podcast..well, 18 to be precise! Having had zero experience doing a podcast, today i’m going to share what i’ve learned so far in running the podcast.

Firstly, running a successful podcast requires careful planning, consistent effort, and attention to various key aspects. It’s bloody hard but rewarding. The thing that really you have to understand is the equipment doesn’t matter. Sure, Joe Rogan has got a shit hot studio and MKBHD has crispy audio, but all you need to get started is literally your iPhone, some recording software, and someone to talk to!Wrote a full blog post on this on the HW newsletter, read more below.

De Santis Twitter Spaces: Future or Fiasco!?

Presidential hopeful Rons De Santis’ hotly-anticipated 2024 campaign launch via Twitter Spaces marred by technical glitches but does beg the question: is this the future of journalism/media?

The Twitter Spaces event with Elon Musk and controversial entrepreneur David Sacks was widely panned by traditional media. DeSantis also faced ridicule for the underwhelming launch from online commentators and both sides of the political aisle.

Over 4m people joined the event however and while you can imagine Donald Trump will be hitting bigger numbers via cable, the future if more two way and interactive.

It might not be space, hell if TikTok isn’t blocked it perhaps would be the most logical place, but nevertheless, the future of political canvassing and conversation in general is likely to be social and online first.
